Facebook owner Meta has announced plans to launch its new microblogging application, Threads, which will go live on Thursday, July 6.
The app, Threads is available for pre-order on the Apple App Store and will be linked to Instagram.
Meta has described Threads as a text-based conversation app.
The move is seen as the latest in a rivalry between Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter owner Elon Musk.
Threads come days after Twitter’s Elon Musk announced a temporary cap on how many posts users can read on the social media site.
The rollout represents a direct challenge to Twitter, which has faced numerous controversies since Musk bought the company in 2022.
