On Foreign News,
In a bold new move, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a controversial $5 million residency permit known as the “Gold Card.” The announcement was made aboard Air Force with President Trump holding up a prototype bearing his image and the words “The Trump Card.”
Describing it as “pretty exciting,”
Trump revealed that he is the first official buyer of the elite visa, which is set to become available in less than two weeks.
The Gold Card, a high-cost alternative to the traditional green card, is part of Trump’s strategy to attract wealthy individuals, boost investment, and help reduce the U.S. national deficit. He noted the program targets job creators and hinted that as many as one million cards could be sold.
The initiative comes amid his administration’s tougher stance on undocumented immigration, signaling a stark contrast between immigration for the wealthy and mass deportation efforts for those without legal status.
Critics have already begun questioning the ethical and legal implications of selling U.S. residency, while supporters hail it as a creative solution to drive economic growth.
