Mrs Soludo Enjoins Parents To Instil Moral Values In Children

Parents have been reminded that their first and cardinal responsibility is to guide their children to be a moral mirror that represents a functional home and society.

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, who gave the advice in Awka, asserted that any parent that fails in that regard has failed the entire society.

The Governor’s wife noted that most foundational problems facing today’s society arose from the inability of most parents to instill the right behavioural and moral values in their children.

She lamented the continuous shortfall in moral principles of the contemporary society, and advised parents against setting the wrong standards for their children or devalue the relevance of exemplary conduct and community’s importance in child raising.

She also reminded religious institutions, schools, communities and government of their roles in child upbringing .

Mrs Soludo made it known that everyone should endeavour to raise the child in a way that reflects a responsible home and society, and re-echoed the ageless socio-cultural philosophy that raising a child is a community affair.

She stressed the need to encourage children to embrace the right tradition and culture, including imbibing values of hard work, respect, patience, humility, truth, resilience and pride of their mother tongue, among others.

Mrs Soludo further charged every institution that has a stake in child upbringing to show more commitment to the task.
