On the 9th of September 2023, Governor Chukwuma Soludo made a call to action for Anambra residents to embrace physical activity as a cornerstone of their health. Over 1,000 individuals joined the monthly “Solution Stroll for Well-being,” at the Awka Township Stadium. It is an initiative organized by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission.
In the opening address, Governor Soludo championed the idea that routine exercise serves as an economical path to good health. He affirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering a healthier population and pledged to partake in the walk, at least one Saturday every month, setting a powerful example for the citizens.
Governor Soludo celebrated the dedication of corps members who actively participated in this exercise, urging them to adopt the Anambra spirit of diligence and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of acquiring marketable skills and the state’s role in supporting youth development through its programs.
Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, extended gratitude to Governor Soludo for his endorsement of the program and hands-on engagement in promoting physical activity and sports. He promised future editions would be more expansive, potentially spanning major cities in the state, as approved by the governor. The chairman also encouraged participants to integrate regular physical activity into their individual routines, echoing the sentiment that a healthy populace leads to a healthy nation.
