Kennedy-Ohanenye also urged agencies not to disrupt women’s activities, specifically emphasizing that no woman should be allowed to pay any tax fee. The call aligns with her commitment to advancing women’s roles in society.
In a related development, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, shared that the Nigerian police is currently reviewing policies to address issues related to the national gender policy. He highlighted the commitment of the police administration to gender parity, emphasizing the importance of the Women, Peace, and Security Sector Reference Group as a platform for advocating a gender-responsive security sector.
The forum aims to review progress in implementing the women’s peace and security agenda in Nigeria, recognizing the strategic roles women play in achieving enduring peace and security.
The Inspector-General reiterated the Nigerian police force’s dedication to continuing the implementation of gender-sensitive policies.
