On Foreign News,

France’s high-speed rail network has been severely disrupted by a series of coordinated sabotage attacks, including arson, just hours before the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony.

The train operator, SNCF, reported that these “malicious acts” targeted multiple lines, including those serving the Atlantic, northern, and eastern regions of the network.

The attacks led to extensive damage and forced the cancellation of many routes, with significant disruptions expected to continue through the weekend as repairs are underway.

According to reports, the sabotage was a deliberate attempt to paralyze the TGV network.

While the southeastern line remained unaffected after a foiled act, other routes saw heavy disruptions, including diversions and numerous cancellations.

SNCF advised passengers to postpone their travel plans and avoid train stations amidst the chaos.

Passengers at Gare Montparnasse and other stations faced delays and uncertainty, with normal service expected to resume by July 29.
