The State Security Service (SSS) has released Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, after detaining him for 15 hours on Monday.
Ajaero was arrested at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while attempting to board a flight to the UK for a World Trade Union Congress event. His passport was seized, and he was released to his lawyer.
The NLC condemned the arrest, describing it as a crackdown on human rights under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
