Ese Brume has broken the jinx of no medals for Nigeria as she took the first medal for Nigeria in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics medal.
Brume won the bronze in women’s long jump with a best jump of 6.97m on Tuesday.
Recall that the 25 year old won Bronze at the 2019 World Championships in Doha.
With a distance of 7.17m at the Chule Vista Festival in California in May, Ese broke Chioma Ajunwa’s 25 year long record of 7.12m.
She was also, only the Nigerian athlete who reached the final of her event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where she placed fifth with a leap of 6.18m.
The visibily elated Ese Brume, holding up the Nigerian flag with tears of joy, thanked God and all Nigerians for their prayers. She also dedicated her Bronze Medal to Bishop Oyedepo of Living Faith Church and her coach.
