The Nigeria Police Force has ordered the detention of four officers accused of extorting 10 million naira from young residents in Bayelsa State. The detained officers identified by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi include Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Ubong, and Inspectors Nse Okon, Adiewere Collins, and Kuromare Marine.

According to ACP Adejobi, the money has been recovered through the efforts of the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat. The officers involved will now face an orderly room trial.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has condemned the actions of the officers, reiterating his commitment to investigating allegations of corruption and misconduct. He assured the public that any officer found guilty of compromising the force’s integrity will face severe disciplinary measures. This, he says, is part of efforts to uphold accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
