Soludo Commissions 60 Free Shops For Agulu’s Fruit And Vegetable Market

In a bid to support local commerce and enhance safety, Governor Charles Soludo has inaugurated the Agulu Solution Arena Fruit and Vegetables Market, a newly constructed facility in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. The market provides 60 free units of shops for fruit and vegetable vendors who previously conducted their business along the Nwagu Agulu Road, where they were exposed to harsh weather and potential road hazards.

Governor Soludo explained that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader strategy to transform Agulu into a leading tourism destination. “Agulu has immense tourism potential, and we are committed to maximizing it,” he stated. The relocation of vendors from the roadside to the newly built Solution Arena reflects the administration’s dedication to creating a safer, more organized commercial space, boosting both local trade and tourism prospects.

In an interview, Hon. Ossy Onuko, MD/CEO of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), praised the governor’s vision. “To whom much is given, much is expected,” said Onuko. “Governor Soludo has created opportunities for Ndi Anambra, and we are inspired to uphold his vision as Solution Ambassadors.” He highlighted that the new market can accommodate up to 120 vendors, with a management team in place to oversee its maintenance and ensure optimal use of the facility.

Hon. Romanus Ibekwe, Chairman of Anaocha Local Government, commended Soludo’s numerous development projects in the area, particularly the dualization of the Awka-Ekwulobia road. “Anaocha remains the highest beneficiary of Governor Soludo’s administration,” Ibekwe noted. He assured the governor of continued support from the local government and partnership with the community to maintain and protect the new facilities.

Chief Oliver Afamefuna, President-General of Agulu Peoples Union, received the facility on behalf of the fruit and vegetable vendors. He expressed gratitude to the governor, stating that the relocation fulfills a promise made to vendors as roadworks near Agulu Lake commenced. “Governor Soludo has kept his word to us, and the people of Agulu stand with him,” Afamefuna affirmed.

The new market facility symbolizes Governor Soludo’s commitment to safer, organized commerce, improved local infrastructure, and Agulu’s potential as a destination for tourists and traders alike.
