The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has linked the frequent collapses of Nigeria’s national grid to corrupt contractors supplying substandard electrical materials.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede revealed this during a meeting with the House Committee on Anti-Corruption in Abuja. He noted that inadequate project execution over the past 20 years has hindered infrastructure development, with only 20% of capital projects completed.
The national grid has collapsed ten times this year, affecting power supply to numerous states. Olukoyede emphasized that without addressing these issues, Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful growth in its power sector.
