The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) is urging the government to either regularize or deport illegal expatriates working in the country. NECA’s Director-General, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, highlighted concerns over undocumented foreign workers occupying jobs intended for Nigerians, which could threaten local employment and security.
Oyerinde emphasized that while documented expatriates deserve protection, those without valid work permits must either comply with legal requirements or leave Nigeria.
The call follows a statement from the Minister of Interior revealing that 90% of expatriates in Nigerian roles lack proper documentation.
