The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Afam Ogene, has won the Ogbaru federal constituency supplementary election in Anambra, unseating Chukwuma Onyema of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a three-term incumbent house of representatives member.
The election which was held on February 25 in the constituency was declared inconclusive due to disruptions and electoral misbehavior.
Ogene was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a leading margin of 232 votes.
According to Kingsley Ubaorji, INEC’s Returning Officer in the state, Ogene polled 10,851 votes to defeat Onyema who polled 10,619 votes while Arinze Awogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 10,155 votes as the second runner-up.
