Hundreds of women from Eha-Ohala communities in Enugu State on Tuesday staged a protest against ongoing attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The protesters, carrying green leaves, blocked the Nkalagu-Eha-Amufu-Ikem-Obollo-Afor Federal Highway, chanting songs of lamentation. They accused security agencies of failing to protect them while armed herdsmen continue to destroy farms and settlements.

One protester, Roseline Odoh, said many women have been raped, homes burnt, and over 150 people killed since 2020. The protesters called for urgent government intervention.

Attempts to reach Enugu police and Governor Peter Mbah’s office for comments were unsuccessful.
