Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba has announce that the Federal Government is no longer responsible for the lingering strike action by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
He also said that there is nothing that should stop the levtureres from returning to classrooms .
In a media chat, Nwajiuba said that the government has done what it needs to do while adding that the ongoing strike should be blamed on the lecturers.
While reiterating that Government has done everything that needs to be done,he stressed that lecturers should get on the platform and collect their salaries.
It will be recalled that the protracted industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which started on 23rd March , was due to the body’s refusal to enroll on the federal government’s payment platform, Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information IPPIS.
On many occasions, ASUU has insisted it won’t enroll in the IPPIS system but would rather be enrolled on the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), which was developed by ASUU
