A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced 15 foreign nationals to one year in prison each for cyber-terrorism and internet fraud.
Justices Yellin Bogoro and Alexander Owoeye convicted 11 Filipinos, two Chinese, one Malaysian, and one Indonesian on separate charges brought by the EFCC. The convicts, including Kayceelynn Remorin and Winnie De Jesus, pleaded guilty to crimes involving identity theft and impersonation for financial gain.
They were fined ₦1 million each, and the court ordered their repatriation within seven days after serving their terms. The EFCC says their actions threatened Nigeria’s economic and social stability through organized cybercrime.
