Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has granted clemency to 11 inmates in a bid to decongest the state’s correctional centres and support rehabilitation efforts.

The gesture, announced by the governor’s aide, Uche Anichukwu, follows recommendations by the Correctional Service and the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, chaired by the Attorney-General, Kingsley Udeh.
The inmates, pardoned under Section 212 of the Nigerian Constitution, were selected based on proven reform, character improvement, and readiness for reintegration into society.
Governor Mbah says the move aligns with his administration’s commitment to restorative justice and second chances.
