Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended 85 top government officials, including commissioners, permanent secretaries, and aides, for negligence of duty.
The affected officials reportedly failed to attend a key government function and will face a one-month suspension without pay. The governor directed that commissioners hand over to their respective permanent secretaries and barred all suspended officers from signing any official documents during the suspension.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, the suspension takes immediate effect and is part of efforts to instill discipline and accountability in public service.
