The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has launched its 2025 flood preparedness campaign in Taraba State.
Director-General Hajiya Zubaida Umar, represented by Deputy Director Abbani Garki, said the initiative aims to strengthen community-level disaster prevention and response.
Drawing from climate forecasts by NIMET and NIHSA, NEMA has developed a comprehensive strategy that includes early warnings, training, and rainwater harvesting.
Taraba’s TASEMA Executive Secretary, Dr. Echuse Audu, highlighted logistical challenges in flood response but said the state government was providing vital support.
Residents in flood-prone areas were urged to relocate, while religious and traditional leaders were called on to help raise grassroots awareness.
