The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has apologised for errors in the 2025 SSCE results and released corrected figures. Over 1.2 million candidates—62.96% of the 1.9 million who sat the exam—now have five credit passes, including English and Mathematics.
Initially, only 38.32% were recorded as having passed. WAEC admitted that errors in serialised English objective papers led to the drop. The Council says the issue has been fixed and affected candidates can now check their corrected results at waecdirect.org.
WAEC’s Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, expressed regret over the emotional stress caused, assuring that measures are in place to prevent future occurrences.
