In another development, Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu, has expressed concern over the flagrant abuse of the established Covid-19 protocols by Nigerians, describing such as attitude that could trigger second wave of the virus in the country.
Dr. Onyekwelu who spoke to the press during the National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association in Awka, noted that with the increasing wave of the virus in the United States of America, the UK, and other parts of the world, and the Christmas season which is around the corner, people are more likely to contract the virus except they strictly observe the preventive measures.
which they kept appreciably during the first wave of the pandemic in the country.
The medical expert warned that now is the time for people to wear face masks, wash their hands more frequently as well as observe social distancing.
Dr.Onyekwelu expects the citizenry to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene and to regard one another as carriers until proved otherwise.
He used the forum to speak on the theme of the conference which sought to reposition the expected roles of doctors in leadership positions in Nigeria.
In a related development, another medical expert based in Onitsha, Dr. Patrick Nwagbara, who spoke on Covid-19 pandemic, expressed delight at the professionalism of airline operators who insist on screening immigrants and foreigners before they are allowed into the country.
Dr.Nwagbara urged people to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols to stay safe.
He recommended exposure to early morning sunlight which contains vitamin D as immune booster.
