A public health expert, Dr Cliff Okafor, has urged the citizenry to take advantage of their natural land endowment and embrace farming to avert imminent hunger and food scarcity.
Dr.Okafor who is also a big time farmer, enumerated some benefits inherent in farming, saying that it does not only ensure food sufficiency but also generates income as well as promotes the wellbeing of the people.
He encouraged the youths to go into farming for empowerment and sustenance instead of endless search of non-existent white collar jobs.
The public health expert however advised those who have no zeal for farming to seek other genuine and decent means of making a living to take care of themselves and their families rather than engaging in criminal activities that could mar their future or cut their dreams short.
Dr Okafor further stressed the need for government to make agriculture more attractive to the youths through mechanized farming and also provision of loans for commercial farming activities.
