The Cathedral Administrator, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, Reverend Father Matthew Attansey, has called for a law to abolish open grazing in Anambra state.
Reverend Father Attansey who spoke to the press in Awka, said this would help eliminate the threat of Fulani Herdsmen invading the state and reducing the risk of a possible cattle rearers and farmers clash.The cleric decried the alleged movement of some almajeria to designated spots in the Southern part of the country which he viewed as unhealthy and needed to be investigated.
He called on the citizenry to adhere strictly to W.H.O’s Covid-19 guidelines to stay alive at this trying period of Coronavirus pandemic devastating the globe.
On his part, a former Chancellor of the Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Reverend Monsignor John Paul Nzomiwu, urged Nigerians go be mindful of the Covid-19 pandemic by making in-depth researches to develop African brand of vaccine or cure for the disease instead of copying the westernized medical and scientific trials.
In a related development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, said in his community, Ubuluisiuzor, government’s directive on Covid-19 is being adhered to in addition to the donation of stimulus packages to the citizenry to assuage their welfare challenges.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano donating stimulus packages to the elderly and the vulnerable to enhance their welfare.
