Isuofia Crown Champion of Aguata Community Shield

On 24th April 2021, Isuofia town defeated Igbo-ukwu town 2 goals to 1, to emerge Champion of the just Concluded Aguata community shield. The entire Aguata communities of 14 Towns participated at the Aguata community shield and came out enmass to cheer their teams.

Isuofia football team, the winner of the Aguata community shield 2021 football tournament went home with a cash prize of Five hundred thousand, Igbo-Ukwu came second with three hundred thousand while Umuchu came third with two hundred thousand naira.

Individual and team awards and cash prizes were given to the players. Fair Play Team went to Ikenga community, Best Player was Ewezuga Ilomba (Isuofia) Community Highest Goal Scorer: Ezeokoye Onyeka (Ekwulobia), Best Keeper, Emeka Okonkwo (Isuofia), Best Coach, Chekwube Okonkwo (Isuofia).

According to Appstle Mbaigbo, the competition was organized as one of the developmental goals among communities in Anambra as the foundation deemed it necessary to engage the youths with sports because of the increasing awareness of insecurity in the country.

He said that Sports if well harnessed can be a tool for eradicating poverty because there is an economy that goes around sporting activities.

Tropical Gate Foundation has singled sports as a strong tool to enpower youths and create a good atmosphere for business and growth development of communities particularly in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The Foundation’s MD further noted that other areas through which the group has considered sports as a tool is prioritizing its importance by focusing at the future which is part of our mantra to recruit talented players. He said that they found it worthy to interface with the society in this area using sports as a tool for social growth, development and security management in the state.
