Anambra Assembly Calls For Rehabilitation Of Okpoko Flood

Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Anambra State Government to cause action by redirecting the flood coming from other places to River Niger and Idemmili River respectively.

The honourable member representing Ogbaru One Constituency at the Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Noble Nonso Igwe, in a motion, made case for his constituents.

Hon. Igwe at plenary lamented over the bad condition of the flood at Okpoko.

“Disturbed by the magnitude of flood surging into Okpoko from Upper Iweka and Awada-Obodi, which have constantly caused great damage and loss of lives to inhabitants of Okpoko every rainy season, am urging the Executive Governor of Anambra State to cause an action to redirect the flood coming from these places to River Niger and Idemmili River respectively.

Hon. Noble who also expressed great concern on the magnitude of garbage and wastes dumped along the streets of Okpoko and environs due to the upsurge, suggested that the menace could be controlled by redesigning the affected drainage channels.
