Following the approval of commercial flights at the Anambra international airport, Umueri by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, the State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor has expressed confidence in the development.

Speaking to journalist in Awka, Ifejiiofor noted that, although the approval letter from the NCAA was dated December 1, the airport had been ready even before the 30th of October commissioning by the state government.

Recall that NCAA had given the approval in a letter signed by its Director General, Musa Nuh, citing security as reason for the initial delay of approval and stating that only Category B aircrafts have been temporarily cleared to land and take off from the airport from sunrise to sunset.

Clarifying that clause however, Commissioner Ifejiofor stated that category B aircrafts indicate the size of aircraft permitted operations, expressing optimism that before the end of the year, the airport will be further upgraded to operate Category 4F.
