Anambra state government has banned the illegal building of bumps on roads across the state.
The state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, who announced this in Awka, expressed dismay at the activities of some communities that construct such illegal bumps on roads.
He noted that such communities say they build those bumps to control the speed of vehicles plying the roads.
The Commissioner explained that illegal bumps on state government roads built with taxpayers money contribute to the destruction of the roads, and urged President- General, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to support the government’s efforts to stop it.
He warned that government would introduce punitive measures including prosecuting identified destroyers of public assets including roads and other road furniture.
