Anambra Govt. Begins Parliative Work At The Failed Portions Of The Amanse Axis Of The Enugu-Onitsha Expressway
Anambra State government has commenced Parliative work on the failed portions of the old Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
The failed portion at the Amansea axis of the express road has, For many years, caused a lot of hardship to both motorists and pedestrians.
Vehicles are usually stuck on road and commuters trapped, while lorries and articulated vehicles most times fall on the road making the situation worse for road users as some had had cause to spend the night in the area, especially during the rainy season..
Anambra government commenced work on the area at the weekend, which spans about 350 meters of the road, at different locations along the same stretch of road.
An official of the Anambra Road Maitainance Agency, the agency responsible for the rehabilitation, Engineer Azuka Egwuatu, said Governor Soludo directed that the road be made motorable within the shortest possible time to alleviate the suffering of road users.
Egwuatu said: “We’ll complete the work within four days since we have placed slumps and presently on stone base, after which we will prime and asphalt.
“We have intervened on Amansea road, Ekwulobia round about, St Joseph Cathedral Ekwulobia axis, Limca road by peoples club, Awka road in Onitsha, Agulu Lake axis to mention a few.
“Currently, we’re moving in to start work on Nkpor-Umuoji road, all courtesy of Governor Soludo.”
