Anambra Govt. Committed To Improving Power Supply

In an effort to boost electricity to drive the economy and development of the state, Anambra State Government has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding, MOU with the Enugu Electricity Distribution
Company, EEDC.

Speaking during the event which took place at the Government House, Awka, the Governor identified power as determinant factor towards achieving sustainable development in the State.

He informed that the MOU was geared towards ensuring steady and affordable power supply in the state to encourage industrialization, small businesses and general wellbeing of the people.

Governor Soludo pointed out that the target is to achieve twenty four- hour power supply in Anambra State.

He further noted that power is very critical to the development of the state as it plays major role in l industrialization, health, education, technology, commerce and transportation among other sectors of the economy.

According to him, with the huge investment in the power sector, more jobs will be created and more revenue will be generated for in achieving a common goal which is a livable and prosperous Anambra State.

Governor Soludo hinted that the Execution Committee would be formed immediately for speedy implementation.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, Anambra State Power Committee, Engineer Chike Okonkwo, and the Managing Director, EEDC, Engr Praveen Chorghade, described the partnership as the beginning of the milestone to be recorded in the power sector in the state and called for the cooperation of the people for quality, effective and efficient services.

Also speaking, the Chairman of EEDC, Sir Emeka Ofor, expressed delight for being part of development of Anambra State and commended Governor Soludo for his commitment towards transforming Anambra to become livable and prosperous.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, South East, covering, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States, Lady Ada Chukwudozie, posited that the move would help ease the stress of doing business, as well as make Anambra the first choice of every investor.

The event attracted critical stakeholders in the state and top government functionaries including, Senator Ken Nnamani, Dr. A.B.C Orjiakor, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka, MD Water Resources, Anambra State, Chief Ikeobi Ejiofor, ASATU National President, Barrister Titus Akpudo among others.

Official Signing of the MOU by the parties involved climaxed the event.
