Anambra State government is set to launch a DocTracker, which will provide information on State infrastructure, from the contract award stage through completion, as well as the maintenance phase.
The Commissioner for Works, Arch Okey Ezeobi, who made this known while reviewing the DocTracker platform at the Ministry of Works complex on Monday, said that the DocTracker will also provide opportunity for input by road users and other residents regarding the status of the infrastructure over time.
The DocTracker was developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency as a melting pot for the government, contractors, and the people for ease of accountability, sustainability, and feedback.
The platform, when operational in a few weeks time, is targeted mainly at the ownership of State infrastructure by Anambra State residents, at various stages of project execution in line with Governor Soludo’s mantra that every kobo of Anambra’s money is devoted to working for Ndi Anambra.
The Works Commissioner noted that any project undertaken by the government is a public infrastructure that is collectively owned by the people who are, therefore, entitled to protect it.
He added that this is because roads are built to serve the people, so the people should own them.
The Managing Director of Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA), who threw more light on the project, noted that the platform integrates project tracking and maintenance for accountability, monitoring, and public ownership.
After the review, the Commissioner for Works, Arch Ezeobi, and the MD of the ICT Agency, Mr. Agbata, projected that the DocTracker will be launched in the coming weeks after further features must have been added, to strengthen the platform towards serving its full purpose in meeting the collective aspiration of Ndi Anambra on public infrastructure.
In the Meantime, relevant staff members of the Ministry are currently being trained by the ICT Agency on relevant information technology know-how necessary for effective discharge of the Ministry’s mandate
