Anambra Govt. Urged To Establish Safety Commission For Engineers in Anambra

An Appeal has gone to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to consider the Establishment of Safety Commission for Engineers in Anambra State.
The National Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, Engr. Akaninyene Edet Ekong, made the call during the investiture of Engr Fimbarr Ajegwu MNSE MNISafetyE, as 3rd Chairman of Anambra State Chapter, and induction of New members in Awka.
In his address of welcome during the event, Engr Ekong noted that Establishment of the Safety Commission will help address all safety issues, and as well make the state conducive and liveable for the citizenry.
He hinted that Engineers can lead the way if they center on Professional Development, Research and Publications, Expansion and Safety Regulations.
Engr Ekong who promised his continued support to the state Engineers, appreciated the government and members of the Safety Engineers and expecially the out going Chairman, Engr Dr. Obumneme Ezeani, and his Successor, Engr Fimbarr Ajegwu, for championing the cause of safety in the state and country at large.
The Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Hon. Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka, also promised to offer desired support to ensure success of the Commission, describing the workshop as apt especially during the Yuletide that the citizenry need safety in their houses, offices and in all the nooks and crannies of the State.
Some resource persons including the Director, State Fire Service, Engr Martin Agbili, the Assistant Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, Mrs Georgina Omeke, Educated the participants on Safety and Livable Anambra State; The Role Of Safety Engineers, How to Ensure Safety In The Workplace and How To Check Ones Vehicle to certify the mechanical Condition before embarking on any journey.
Responding after being inducted as the Third Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, NISafetyE, Anambra State, Engr Fimbarr Ajegwu, expressed joy at the success of the Investiture and promised to work with relevant stakeholders in industries, schools, private Institutions, public places among others to promote best safety practices across board.
The Chairman, COREN Technical and Expatriate Committee, Engr, Victor Meju, President-General Emeritus of Enugwu Ukwu, Honourable Bonny Ozonkwuaku, as well as Lady PN Anigor, were among those that received Certificates of Merit Award during the event.
