Anambra Govt. Wades Into Igweship Crisis Bedevilling Amichi in Nnewi South LGA

Amambra State government has waded into Igweship tussle tearing the Amichi community in Nnewi South

To this end, the State Government has affirmed that Igwe Dr Barrister Oforbuike Ezeoke remains the authentic traditional ruler of the community as he posses the Certificate of Recognition from the state government.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Collins Nwabunwanne, made government’s position known in his office during a peaceful deliberation with the two factions in the community, who incidentally are siblings.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne reminded them of the need for them to embrace peace and shun war making them to understand that Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration is passionate about restoring peace and reconciliation to waring communities.

He expressed dismay at the turn of even in the town, pointing out that Amichi is one of the Community Government held in high esteem.

The Commissioner recalled that government intervened during the President General crisis and restored the democratically elected PG, but expressed displeasure at accusations he recently received from some individuals from Amichi.

He maintained that he works in tandem with governor Soludo’s excellent policies, adding that he believes in doing the right thing and not moved by gratification.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne further reiterated that he abides by the rule of law in carrying out his assignments and has been tested and trusted by the present Administration.

He cautioned the President General not to take sides, reminding him that his job is to furnish government with developments in his community

Commissioner Nwabunwanne maintained that if Amichi wants new traditional ruler, they should follow due process, but stated categorically that Igwe Dr Oforbuike Ezeoke is still recognized by the state government until the Court decides otherwise.

The Commissioner pointed out that Igwe Dr Oforbuike Ezeoke is still the Amichi traditional rulers as far as the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Anambra State, is concerned.

He further advised the two siblings to embrace peace as Governor Soludo government is known for rule of law.

In their separate remarks, Chief Afam Ume Ezeoke, the Amichi President General, Mr Cletus Udebuani, Prince Eric Ume Ezeoke and Sir Jeff Okeke among others cautioned the people to toe the part of peace, reminding them that good begets good while evil begets evil and what ever people do, live after them .

The traditional ruler, his royal highness, Igwe Dr Barr Oforbuike Ezeoke, expressed delight with the reconciliatory meeting and thanked the state government and the Commissioner for wading into the crisis, and assured that they would put house in order.
