The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, has commended Anambra State Government directive to civil servants and other workers in its payroll to resume work fully on Mondays, following the abolishment of the Monday Sit-At-Home to boost economic stability and productivity.

NAWOJ, in a communique issued at the end of its February Congress held on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026, however, called on the Government to strengthen security across the state to ensure the safety of civil servants, business owners, students, and residents as they go about their legitimate activities on Mondays as well as other working days.

The Association also commended the State Government for the various ongoing road construction and infrastructural projects, that continue to improve crucial economic growth, and social development, which have also significantly improved transportation in the state.

The Association went further to appeal to the Government to address other roads in deplorable conditions in some communities, within the state to enhance rural development, ease transportation challenges, and promote even growth in rural development.

The Association also called for improved welfare packages for civil servants, including rehabilitation of Civil Servants Transportation Scheme, Salary Increments as well as other Benefits.

These, according to NAWOJ, would act as incentives to boost civil servants morale which will ultimately increase productivity.

NAWOJ viewed with deep concern, the lopsided outcome of the just concluded All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party’s primaries in view of the forthcoming Local Government Elections, where all the Candidates returned for the Party were all males but one female.

Considering the global call for the inclusivity of women in governance, the Association decried the sidelining of women in the said Party primaries at a moment the Nation is agog with the increased Awareness.

The Communique was signed by Tochukwu Ifejika, Anambra State NAWOJ Chairperson,

Josephine Maduakona, Chairperson, Communique Drafting Committee,
Regina Igwebuike, and Bernadette Nwakili, Members, Communique Drafting Committee.
