Daily Trust - Police arrest robbers “terrorising” Anambra

Anambra State Command has dislodged a robbery Syndicate terrorising Onitsha and environs.

On the 14th of November, following a distress call at about 10:05 pm that two suspected armed robbery gang were operating near Shoprite, Onitsha, Police Operatives attached to the Common Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in response, rushed to the scene, foiled the operation and made arrests.

In a statement released by The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, two male suspects, 24 year old Chibuike Okwuosa and 26 year old Odigbo Chidera, all residents of Awada were arrested.

According to Haruna, exhibits recovered were five rounds of 9mm life ammunition, one dagger and an unregistered Toyota Venza car.

Meanwhile, the case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police ,John Abang , has assured Ndi Anambra of their safety and urged them not to relent in providing timely information to the Command through the emergency number 07039194332 or 112 for prompt response.
