
Anambra residents are being informed that the end-of-month environmental sanitation exercise comes up this Saturday, 30th May, 2020.
The Commissioner for Environment, Honorable Obi Nwankwo, alerted that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is compulsory for all Anambra residents.
He requested all to use the sanitation exercise to keep their homes, offices, markets and other public places clean, cut grasses and de-silt the gutters.
The Commissioner further emphasised that wastes should be bagged and disposed -off at designated locations to be evacuated immediately by commissioned trucks.
He called on everyone to join hands with Anambra state government to keep Anambra state clean (Dobe Anambra Ocha), especially this period of Covid-19.
The Environment Commissioner encouraged members of civil society organizations, security agencies, the clergy and church members, Ndi Igwe, para-military organizations, political appointees, Presidents-General of town unions, Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen, councilors and all other stakeholders to mobilize residents for the all important exercise.
Commissioner Nwankwo informed that Officials of Anambra state Ministry of Environment as well as security personnel will be on enforcement patrol that day, and added that mobile courts will try offenders in line with Anambra Environmental Sanitation l
