Secondary school principals and teachers in Anambra State have been authorized to confiscate mobile phones from students to curb distractions and enhance academic performance.
Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairperson of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, announced the directive during the Anambra Schools’ Cultural Day in Awka. She emphasized the need for discipline in learning environments, stating that excessive phone use disrupts studies.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is prioritizing education reforms to promote academic excellence. The event also highlighted the importance of preserving Igbo culture, encouraging students to embrace traditional values such as honesty, respect, and hard work.
