Anambra State has been described as a major factor in the production, processing and Export of oil palm in Nigeria
The Executive Director/ CEO, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Mr Olusegun Awolowo, stated this at a workshop on “Global Best Practices Across the Oil Palm Value Chain for Enhanced Produce Yield and Quality Improvement for Export”, held in Awka, Anambra State.
He appreciated the people and government of Anambra State for their support to the development of non-oil export in the country, explaining that the vision of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council is to make the world a market place for Nigeria non-oil goods and services.
Mr Awolowo represented by Mr Raymond Ikulajolu hinted that their mission is to spearhead the diversification of Nigeria economy by expanding and increasing non-oil exports for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
The Executive Director also reiterated the Nigerian export promotion Council’s preparedness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop the non-oil export in the state.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Nnamdi Onukwwuba, represented by the Director, Technical Services in the training and partners to Harvest Plus, Mr Emeka Okoli, urged the participants to adopt the best practices to make better yields, and as well process quality oil palm for export to restore former glory of the state.
In her address of welcome, the State Head, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Awka, Mrs Jane Ego Ohiri, commended the NEPC Director, Mr Awolowo and Governor Willie Obiano, for championing the cause of agriculture in the state, especially in areas of oil value Chain for Enhanced produce.
She commended the participants at the workshop, urging them to pay attention and learn the needful, as according to her, Anambra State will soon become Export Hub of the country in oil palm production.
A resource person who is the Director, Extension Services, Nigerian Institute Of Oil Palm Research, Benin City, Edo State, Dr Olusegun Solomon, educated Participants on acceptable practices in the oil palm plantation for increased yields.
One of the participants commended the organizers of the workshop for their good works and promised to put the knowledge gained into good use.
