Governor Willie Obiano has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to boost power supply in the state.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne disclosed this while defending the 2021 budget estimate of the ministry before the House committee on Public Utilities at the Legislative Complex in Awka.
Our Correspondent reports that while stating that the Ministry is at the heart of delivering dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra, Engineer Ezenwanne emphasized that the project is an integrated one where TCN would build multiple transmission stations at Ifitedunu, Aguleri, Umuchu, Amansea and Ogidi among others.
He further said that these transmission stations would be connected with one thirty two KVA line as well as create a power ring around them to guarantee constant power supply.
The Commissioner maintained that the ministry will in 2021 fiscal year continue with the operation light up Anambra project that has improved businesses as well as enhanced security in the state, in addition to building sustainable structures around Obizi and Otuocha water schemes to reticulate water to communities in the state.
Speaking to journalists after analyzing the budget estimate of the ministry, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Utilities, Honourable Emma Nwafor assured that the committee will see to the completion of the projects outlined by the ministry to realize the vision of Governor Willie Obiano for Anambra State.
The lawmaker charged the ministry to redouble their efforts as his committee will embark on oversight visit to all their projects to ascertain how they expended the fund allocated to them.
The ministry of Women Affairs, led by the Commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue also appeared before the House committee on Social Development, Gender and Children Affairs and defended their budget estimate for the 2021 fiscal year.
