The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr.Simeon Onyemachi has cautioned healthcare providers who extort the enrollees of Agency. . He said that they have realized that in the bid to get more money from patients, they tell them that there are substandard drugs for ASHIA enroless while they have quality drugs for those that pay directly to the hospital. He said that it is a way for dubious healthcare providers to extort money from their enrollees. He called out to ASHIA enrollee to ignore such acts.
Dr Onyemaechi also informed ASHIA enrollees to always call the number at the back of their ID card to report any foul play by healthcare providers. He said that he regularly visits health facilities that are in the scheme to ensure they deliver in accordance to the terms of agreement, while also encouraging everyone to register and get health insurance for quality care and healthy lifestyle.
He also said that the agency does not hesitate to deal with erring healthcare providers as two specialist hospitals in Awka have been removed from their scheme because of sharp practices.
