Anambra State Police Command says it has recorded more breakthroughs in the week under review, as it arrested 13 suspected criminals

Anambra State Police Command says during the week under review, police operatives attached to the Anambra State Command have recorded cases of interest to members of the public.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, on the 3rd of this month, at about 2:20 pm, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to Ogbaru Division arrested one Chibueze Ani, male, aged 23 years, of Anibueze village, Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area, and Ebuka Umegbolu, also male, aged 25 years, of Abalauno village in Ndokwa East Council Area of Delta State.

Haruna said the uspects specialised in Stealing tricycles both in Anambra and Delta States.

He added that exhibits recovered in their possessions include one tricycle with Registration number NKK 848 QL allegedly stolen at Ukpor street, Iyiowa Odekpe.

The PPRO also disclosed that on the 5th of this month, at about 10:am, following a distress call of robbery operation around Nneyi-Umueri in Anambra East Council Area, police patrol team immediately dispatched to the scene, engaged the robbers and eventually arrested one Ejimofor Igbanugo , male, aged 22 years, of Umueze Anam and Ebuka Chiagbata also male, aged 20, of same address.

The PPRO further informed that exhibits recovered in their possessions include one revolver pistol and three live ammunition.

Furthermore, he revealed, on the 5thof this month, at about 8:pm, following report that some hoodlums were robbing people close to Ukpo junction, by Enugu/Onitsha Expressway, Police patrol team quickly rushed to the scene and dislodged the hoodlums who jettisoned the robbery operation, abandoning one motorcycle and a locally made short gun with three live cartridges.

Haruna informed that exhibits were recovered, while effort is ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects in order to bring them to justice.

Also, he continued, on the 3rd of this month, at about 5:45am, following a credible intelligence report, police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Cult Unit, raided an uncompleted three-storey building in Awka and arrested Nine suspected cultists including one Chinonso Mba, male, aged 25 years, a native of Ezira in Awgwu Local Government Area of Enugu State, but resides at same uncompleted building with a locally made double barrel gun and two live cartridges.

The PPRO said other exhibits recovered in their possessions include one Dagger, two knives, one machete, charms and some quantities of dry leaves suspected to be indian hemp.

He said suspects confessed to be members of a secret cult group called, “PAYTON CON FRATERNITY”.

According to the PPRO, all cases are under investigation after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, a total of 13 suspects, three locally made guns, eight ammunition, two knives, one dagger, one machete, one tricycle, one motorcycle, charms and some quantity of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, has reassures the public that the Command under his watch, will continue to pursue the criminals from all nooks and crannies in the State until they repent or relocate from the State.
