Anambra Traditional Ruler Escapes Death As Unknown Gunmen Attack Convoy
The Traditional ruler of Isuaniocha in Awka North LGA, Igwe Mkpuora Ngini, has appealed to State government to look into the communal crisis rocking the community with a view to saving his life and restore peace in the community.
The call followed what he described as “Sponsored” attack on his convoy by unknown persons.
Igwe Ngini who was recently certified by the State Government as the traditional ruler of the town, also called on security operatives to fish out those behind the attack.
He expressed worry over growing rate of insecurity in the community, alleging that two DSS Officials attached to his convoy were wounded, one abducted, while their Hilux Van was set ablaze during the attack.
“The gunmen refused me entry into my community to address my people and I wrote to DSS and they gave me some officers to escort me.
“But surprisingly on entering Isuaniocha, the unknown gunmen opened fire on my convoy,” he added.
Describing the development as unfortunate, the monarch called on security operatives to immediately apprehend the perpetrators, safe guard lives and property, including government institutions in the community.
” I want government and security operatives to swing into action by acting fast to protect my life, lives and property, government institutions, our youths and vigilante from further attack by the hired hoodlums.
“Government should intervene quickly to get them apprehended and make them face the law before their activities will move over to Awka and neighbouring communities” he stressed.
The monarch further called on both natives and residents of the community to remain calm and law abiding in the wake of the development, assuring that government will act towards achieving high level security.
Igwe Ngini further stressed the need for peace and stability in the community, and commended the state government for its efforts in security in the state.
