Anglican Diocese Of Awka Flags Off 13th Synod In Grand Style

The Anglican diocese of Awka has flagged off the 2nd session of its 13th synod with the theme, ‘Running the Christian race, implications for the church in the perilous times”

The President of the Synod who is the Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim, presided over the Synod slated to end on Sunday, 5th May 2024.

In a sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Jalingo Diocese, Rev. Nedison Foreman, urged Christians to run the race with patience, discipline, determination, dedication and sacrifice.

Rev. Foreman warned that runners of the race will miss the mark if they allow sin to pull them down.

He prayed for God’s Grace on Christians to finish their race with the crown of heavenly eternal glory.

In his message to the Synod, the Priest in charge of St. Paul’s Anglican Chapel, Federal Government College, Nise, Rev. Canon Basil Orji, enjoined Christians to persevere in their determination to serve God to win the heavenly race.

To survive in the perilous times, Rev. Orji suggested that Christians should explore other alternative means of livelihood.

On his part, a visitor to the Synod and lecturer at the University of Calabar, Dr. Emma Nwobu, encouraged Christians to look up to God in perilous times to succeed in life.

Dr. Nwobu felicitated with Archbishop Ibezim for his encouragement to Christians.

Others who called for Divine intervention to succeed in life include the wife of the Archbishop Dr. Mrs Martha Ibezim, Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh and Dame Eunice Mesigo of the Anglican Communion.
