The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has commenced preparations for its 2026 World AIDS Week activities while reviewing its August performance to further strengthen the state’s HIV response.
The review and planning session was held on Sept. 1 during the agency’s monthly review meeting (MRM), where heads of units presented reports on their August activities, achievements, challenges, identified gaps and measures taken to address them.
The agency appreciated the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for his continued support for ANSACA, noting that the administration’s backing has helped create an enabling environment for the agency to become more active and visible in HIV prevention, testing, awareness and community engagement across the state.
The meeting further set priorities for September and reviewed strategies for closing outstanding gaps across the agency’s programmes.
Under the theme “Rethink, Rebuild and Rise,” ANSACA will organise a series of World AIDS Week activities in the days leading up to World AIDS Day on December 1. Planned activities include a press conference, HIV science symposium and research engagement, football tournament, advocacy walk, road shows and high level advocacy visits to key stakeholders.
Different committees were constituted to coordinate the activities, ensuring effective preparation and implementation.
The meeting reinforced ANSACA’s commitment to accountability, continuous improvement and stronger partnerships in advancing HIV prevention, testing, awareness and support services across Anambra State.
