In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Awka North and South Federal Constituency has begun internal mobilization of its members in earnest.
At a stakeholders meeting convened by the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Legislative Matters, Right Honourabe Anayo Nnebe, the party highlighted some of the challenges of the moment, and ventilated ideas on how to overcome them.
In his welcome address, the convener, Right Honourable Nnebe noted that by the published INEC calendar, campaigns are to commence in September, noting that the essence of the gathering was to galvanize party members and solidify its structures for the campaigns and eventual victory.
He assured that the party boasts an array of quality candidates including Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Honourable Obi Nwankwo for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Igwedimma Nwofor, Awka South I State Constituency, and Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, for Awka South II State Constituency Candidate.
Addressing to the gathering, Honourable Obi Nwankwo thanked the convener for his thoughtfulness, appreciating the need to weld the party together in preparation for the polls.
He vowed to continue on a success path, and appealed to whoever he may have offended in the course of the journey so far, even if inadvertently, to kindly forgive and place the interest of the party above every other desire.
On his part, the Awka South I State Constituency candidate, Honourable Igwedimma Nwofor expressed gladness for the opportunity provided by Right Honourable Nnebe, describing it as a show of his leadership prowess and selflessness.
He encouraged party faithful present to keep hope alive and see the election effort as a collective responsibility.
Honourable Nwofor emphasized the place of internal cohesion in the electoral contest; hence the need for all to work as a team.
Also speaking, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, assured of quality representation and greater dividends of good governance.
He emphasised the need for a legislature which appreciates Governor Soludo’s dream for the state and said he is committed to assisting in its actualization.
