ASUU To Review Appeal Court’s Ruling Before Deciding Its Next Action
Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, says it will review the Appeal Court judgement which ordered the its members to end the 8 months strike, before deciding its next line of action.
ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, stated this in a chat with journalists, following the Appeal Court judgement on Friday, that ordered the union to resume work with immediate effect, as earlier ordered by the National Industrial Court.
Prof. Osedeke pointed out that the union was yet to officially receive the Appeal Court ruling.
He said the union would after receiving the judgement, go through the document with its lawyers and decide on the next line of action.
The ASUU President said, “We have not received the ruling, when we get it, we will review it with our lawyer and then we can take the next step”.
It could be recalled that the Federal Government, following its inability to resolve its dispute with the university lecturers, dragged the Union to the National Industrial Court on September 11.
However, on September 24, the Industrial Court ordered the striking lecturers to return to class while negotiation with the Federal Government continues.
The Union, not satisfied, headed to the appellate court to appeal the ruling.
