At least seven soldiers have been killed in a deadly attack by suspected ISWAP fighters on a military base in Marte, Borno State.

The terrorists reportedly stormed the base Monday afternoon, overpowering troops, seizing three gun trucks and 70 motorcycles, and setting the base ablaze.

Though the military is yet to confirm the attack, reports from local sources and the Civilian Joint Task Force suggest a significant loss.

A video circulating online shows fallen soldiers covered with leaves, as colleagues identify the dead.

ISWAP, a Boko Haram offshoot, has intensified assaults in the region, raising fears that the stolen vehicles may further boost their mobility.
