The game played at the Awka City Stadium saw Paul Nnamdi’s strike to score in the 48th minute for his team Oyi against their opponents Dunukofia. Brainbox Sports Foundation Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mr. Samuel Ezeugo.

Activities to give the event a beautiful color Musical Artists Some Val performed live at the stadium, there was road show by members of the NYCN from the 21 LGAs from Alex Ekwueme square at Aroma to the Awka City Stadium, paramilitary and quarter guard march past.

According to the Mr Samuel Ezeugo, the winner of the competition will smile home with the sum of N3million, while the 1st and 2nd Runners Up will each smile home with the sum of N2million and N1million respectively. Individual awards for the Best Goalkeeper, Best Player of the tournament and Highest Goal Scorer will each be rewarded with the sum of N100,000.

Speaking to Kpakpando Radio the Manager of Brainbox Sports Foundation, Mr Ifeanyi Nwoye who spoke on behalf of the sponsor stated that the love for the game by the benefactor and the will to provide a platform for the youths in the state to showcase their God’s given talent is the motivation behind the competition. Nwoye said that the competition has come to stay and will be an annual event in the sports program in the state, He further disclosed that Brainbox foundation intends to host the 36 states plus FCT Abuja and ensure the competition will be an annual event.

According to Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters said the competition would engender more friendly interaction among the youth and enhance peaceful coexistence at the grassroots. Collins said his ministry would support the competition by ensuring that NYCN chapters across the Local Government Areas participated.

Hon. Obieze commended the CEO of Brainbox Sports Foundation for keying into the ‘Akuluo uno’ philosophy by sponsoring and organizing the competition which he described as a right step in the right direction.

The Chairman of the NYCN, Amb. Surveyor Obi Emeka Chukwudi stated that as football is a unifying factor, the council is using the beautiful game to unite the entire youths in the state and engage them meaningfully.

Also present during the event were the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne; Chairman Anambra State sports development commission Hon Patrick Onyedum Eastate, Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba; MD/CEO Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr. Mark Okoye among others.
