Awka Community Restates Readiness To Protect Lives,  Property In State Capital Territory

Awka Community has reiterated commitment to protecting individuals and government property within the capital territory against wanton destruction by misguided elements through the mobilization of the Okolo N’eche Obodo of the Community.

Our Correspondent reports that in the meeting to put a stop to the menace of youth’s restiveness and vandalization of peoples and government assets, were stakeholders in community affairs, including Ozo title holders, different youth wings of the community and Awka Development Union Nigeria, ADUN representative.

Speaking during the meeting, the Traditional Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye thanked the youths for their resilience against miscreants who wanted to jeopardize the security in Awka and Anambra state by their unwarranted destruction of private and government assets, noting that the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu has given the youths full support in their noble moves of reclaiming the community.

Chief Okoye also commended the state government for its efforts in addressing the demands of the youths.

A cabinet member, Ozo Nwaeze Okoli said the ENDSARS protest by the youths across the country is commendable but condemned the hijacking of the protest by misguided elements , expressing satisfaction that the government is giving youths a listening ear.

In their remarks, youth leaders in the community, Mr. Onyebuchi Nwobu, Chairman Okolo n’eche Obodo Awka and Mr. Chidozie Oforah said they had to rise up and put an end to the lootings and destruction in other to salvage the situation, while the Public Relations Officer of ADUN, Mr. Emmanuel Onyejiaka expressed happiness by the resolve of Awka youths and the full support of the town union.
