The Minister of Works and Housing , Babatunde Fashola has maintained that construction of the second Niger bridge would be completed in 2022.
In a forum to mark this administration’s sixth year anniversary in Abuja on Sunday, Mr Fashola said that the bridge will serve as a major link between South East and south West Nigeria. He reaffirmed that it will be delivered between second and third quarters of 2022 due to the construction time that was lost because of Covid-19.
According to records made available at the onset of the construction which began on September 1, 2018, it put the cost of construction of the second Niger bridge at N336 billion.
Mr Fashola said that the construction work had gone beyond the water level and what is seen is the final work.
The second Niger bridge is 1.6km long and furnished with ancillary infrastructure, including a 10.3km highway and an interchange. It spans from Asaba in Delta state to Ozubulu, Ogbaru and other communities in Anambra state.
