Madonna Asumpta Catholic Church, Ovollo Village Mbaukwu has been officially dedicated as an outstation of St. Dominic Catholic Church Akabor Village Mbaukwu, in Awka South Council Area of Anambra state.

The dedication mass commenced with the cutting of the dedication tape and historic handing over of the key of the church by Chief Anthony Okafor, the man who singlehandedly donated the Church to Mbaukwu Catholic community to the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most. Revd Paulinus Ezeokafor as other clergies including the Revd Father who founded the outstation, Revd Father Peter Echeng at exactly 9.:45am.

In His sermon, prior to the consecration rituals, Bishop Ezeokafor described church planting as one of the key enablers that open up rural environments for the birth of sustainable development.

The Catholic prelate also said he went through the donor’s brief biography and was not surprised that Chief Anthony channels his resources in humanitarian works and charity. The donor was an ex-seminarian who also served as a chapel perfect during his secondary school days at Ezike primary school Nibo.

While praying for the mother Mrs. Obijofor and his wife, Mrs Anthony, and the entire Obijofor family, Bishop Ezeokafor also urged wealthy individuals to Channel their wealth and resources toward charity and every other channel that can make society better.

On his part, The Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate To Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and who is also senior Special Assistant to Governor on Indigenous Medicine and herbal practices, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim described Bishop Ezeokafor as a man of God whose gospel has manifest results in the life of Christians, politics including top government functionaries.

While congratulating Mbaukwu Christians and Catholic faithful on the newest church in the state, Dr Ibezim urged catholic and Anglican faithful to eschew bitterness as the perceived war in the country is not between Anglicans and Catholics but between Christians and religious fundamentalists.
